Innovative multifunction kitchen taps capable of preparing coffee or even cooking were showcased at Salone del Mobile 2024, redefining the future of kitchen design. These cutting-edge solutions combine functionality, aesthetics, and sustainability, offering a glimpse into the next generation of home appliances.
Gessi Vita
Gessi had previously introduced Vita, a multifunctional kitchen system capable of dispensing filtered water at room temperature, cold, hot up to 100°C, and even sparkling. This year, they have integrated a coffee pod machine as well. What stands out is how seamlessly the coffee machine blends into the tap's design; it’s hardly noticeable. Users can select different coffee lengths, and for those who prefer americano, after the espresso is brewed, simply position the cup under the faucet and press the desired function. The tap will dispense the appropriate amount of hot water.
Quooker Flex
Quooker claims to be "the tap that does it all." At their booth, a chef demonstrated cooking salmon and vegetables using only the tap (steam cooking). The system provides instant access to up to 7 liters of boiling water at 100°C, as well as filtered, chilled, and sparkling water. What impresses the most is its discreet design; it resembles a normal tap with no visible screens or excessive buttons/levers. The pull-out nozzle is also concealed within the metal body, and its classic design ensures compatibility with any kitchen space, making it a favorite among design purists who prefer a minimalist aesthetic. To access filtered, sparkling, cold, hot, or boiling water, users simply press and rotate the ring (press one or more times to switch functions) with a single gesture, making it ergonomic and user-friendly. The side lever is dedicated solely to tap water, resembling a standard faucet.
Of course, both the above-mentioned products are part of a system that requires an under-sink tank with filters.
